Lauren’s magic lies not just in her success, but in the way she lives her life. As a queer woman, she is an outspoken advocate and avid community activist who has been invited to speak for numerous outlets and has raised thousands of dollars for the causes she believes in.

Ask her what she does and Miranda will tell you, “I make dope work.” She’s not exaggerating. The Bostonian was a college athlete (and captain of Brown Univeristy’s basketball team), but she pursued a creative career after graduation, enrolling in London’s Rose Bruford College of Drama. She’s acted on and written for the stage - she was a cohort in the Huntington Playwright’s Fellow Program and her artistic training informs her current work. Beyond Measure, the company she cofounded with her brother, recently produced, in collaboration with Embrace Boston, the documentary, Welcoming the Embrace. And she and her husband, the team behind Jagun Fly Productions, produced the short film YE!, currently on the film festival circuit.

Between herself and her husband, they’ve worked for all the big names Nike, Reebok, Puma, adidas. And together they’ve created collaborations for giants such as Alexander McQueen, Scarlet Johansson and YO! MTV Raps. They launched a sneaker line and now provide product strategy, creative direction and product design out of their own studio for American sportswear brands, such as Tracksmith and Hoka. But Elizabeth doesn’t simply lend her genius to other’s labels - she’s an outspoken mentor for the next generation of creatives and has spoken on panels and given talks about creativity and empowering women in the predominantly male-dominated sneaker industry.

The artist, entrepreneur and CEO of fashion brand Kreyol (iamkreyol.com) uses her platform to globally empower disenfranchised female artisans
The fashion designer and small business owner did not let the pandemic slow her down. In 2020, in partnership with Bloomingdale’s and the Red Sox Foundation, she kicked off her first artisan collection featuring garments, accessories and home goods designed by female makers from around the world. Each season since, she’s featured the collection alongside her designs for Kréyol. And last June, Joelle opened her first brick and mortar boutique in Somerville’s Bow Market.

In the five years since Petra joined PEM, she opened the Fashion Design Gallery, (and has since completed a major rotation of the items of view), curated two wildly popular exhibitions, Made It: The Women Who Revolutionized Fashion and Patrick Kelly: Runway of Love and was promoted to Director of Curatorial Affairs. This month she travels to Singapore to present a piece she wrote in conjunction with the new retrospective on runway darling Andrew Gn, currently on display at the Asian Civilisations Museum.
