Usher in the most magical time of year with this Maine inn’s beloved holiday dinner.
Foodies can enjoy dinner with a view, thanks to the stunning scenery outside White Barn’s display window.
Just as the lingering scents of turkey and stuffing subside, Kennebunkport, Maine, transforms into a glittering winter wonderland for its annual Christmas Prelude. The 40-year-old festival invites visitors from all over the world to step into a real-life Hallmark movie, filled with music, hot chocolate, sparkling decor and, of course, the White Barn Inn (aubergeresorts.com/whitebarninn), Auberge Resorts Collection’s Prelude Dinner. “The unique dinner experience invites guests and locals to gather around our farm tables for a communal meal that showcases the best of Maine’s farms while tasting delicious aperitifs from [brands] Ghia and Lo-Fi,” says general manager Daniel Braun. “This evening also has a give-back component, and 10% of each ticket goes toward supporting LifeFlight of Maine, the state’s only emergency air ambulance service.” On Dec. 8th, take a seat inside the rustic coastal escape, where sparkly garlands dangle from the barn rafters, antique metallic ornaments adorn the main chandelier and a 6-foot Douglas fir wrapped in starry lights glimmers through the hotel restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling display window. Live music from carolers, electric violin and piano will fill the space with holiday cheer, setting the stage for a festive feast that offers a modern take on New England favorites. As mulled cider heats up by the bar, indulge in heavenly dishes from executive chef Mathew Woolf and guest chef Ana Hito’s specialty menus. With fresh, local ingredients like ice-cold oysters, creamy goat cheese, rich wagyu, sweet sea urchin and buttery scallops stealing the show, we can’t wait to see what the experience has in store.
After dinner, check into one of the inns cozy, chic rooms.
