Having generated $800-plus million in real estate sales to date, Westwood’s #1 selling broker for over 17 years—Elena Price is the hot property these days. “Very low inventory, combined with strong demand at all price points” is how Price describes the current market.
As for that mass exodus of people from densely populated communities for the suburbs? “More space,” she explains. "Inside, for home offices, and outside, for privacy and at home activities—pools are a plus.” Another trend, she notes, is the turn from “big open floor plans, especially on the main floor” toward private spaces. “Individual rooms are making a comeback.”
Also, despite the pandemic, people are ready to buy. As Price puts it: “They’re not waiting for the flowers to bloom,” but a house must still be properly priced to sell. “People remain very cognizant of value.” Usability is another asset, with Price observing that nonfunctional showpiece spaces of a few years ago are somewhat of a new challenge. “Well-equipped kitchens for home cooking, and outdoor fireplaces and sports courts are more important features.”
Price is successful in part because she pivots just enough. Particularly in a time of overwhelm, she says, “I do try to make the process as easy as possible for my clients and do as much as I can to take care of the minutiae.” Spoken like a pro. “I believe everything must be done in a professional manner. To get it done, and done the right way.”
