There's always something fun going on in the Boston area—you just need to know where to look. From must-see events to the best spots to grab a bite, we've put together a nifty list of all the hottest happenings in town. Here's our guide to the best things to do in Boston this weekend.
Mariel
If you already love upscale Boston dining staples like Lolita, Ruka and Yvonne’s, you’ll feel right at home at Mariel, the latest creation from COJE Management Group. Similar to their other spots, the restaurant focuses on aesthetic appeal through its choice of unique furnishings, ambient lighting and art pieces. What sets it apart is its Cuban influence, which is present in everything from Latin music playing from the DJ booth, to the pre-Cuban Revolution architecture, to a menu that features plenty of re-imagined cultural dishes and cocktails. 10 Post Office Square, barmariel.com
Air Canada Pop-Up
Craving poutine? Air Canada’s got the fix—and it doesn’t include booking a flight. They’re hosting a Poutinerie in Boston, an event that will feature plenty of sampleable poutine recipes—some traditional fry-gravy-and-cheese-curd combos and some twists on the classic. You’ll also enjoy drinks, a chance to win plane tickets and a virtual reality on-board experience of all Air Canada has to offer to Logan flyers. Each drink and sample are priced separately, and proceeds go to Boston-based nonprofit About Fresh. Oct. 3-13, 267 Washington St., aircanada.com
Audrain's Newport Concours & Motor Week
Buckle up for a weekend-long celebration of history, luxury and culture. The centerpiece event, Concours d’Elegance, will feature a presentation of over a billion dollars’ worth of beautiful vintage cars and will be judged by chairman—and Boston-bred comedy legend—Jay Leno. Other special guests include John Legend, who will host an intimate concert with a VIP private reception; Seinfeld’s John O’Hurley, who will serve as master of ceremonies at sold-out masquerade gala; and Grammy award-winning artist Kenny Loggins, who will perform at the gala. Oct. 3-6, VIP all-inclusive tickets $2,750, Newport, R.I., audrainconcours.com
DJ Pauly D
Party like you’re on the Jersey Shore this Sunday night. Join reality TV star and renowned entertainer DJ Pauly D at Memoire at Encore Boston Harbor—one of the city’s newest and most high-end nightclubs—to drink and dance the night away. Make sure to secure a VIP table before they sell out to enjoy exclusive bars and bottle service all night long. Oct. 6, VIP 12-person table $1,000, Encore Boston Harbor, memoireboston.com
