Ahead of the blockbuster release, The Bikeriders, explore Danny Lyon’s iconic photographs of the Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle Club.
This summer’s must-see flick, The Bikeriders, is jumping off the big screen for Bostonians at The Robert Klein Gallery. The film, inspired by acclaimed American photographer and filmmaker Danny Lyon’s book, depicts the transformation of a motorcycle club into a dangerous gang. From June 28 through Aug. 31, visitors can explore Lyon’s immersive documentation of the Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle Club from 1963-1967. The exhibition features 40 original photographs from this iconic series, capturing 1960s America through an insider’s lens. At just 21 years old, the self-taught photographer joined the Outlaws and began documenting their world, capturing and glorifying the life of the American bike rider. Initially published as a book, the work positioned Lyon as a key figure in the New Journalism movement, where the photographer becomes a part of the story. Those who crave more of the Outlaws’ world can catch the film on June 21, directed by Jeff Nichols and starring Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy and Mike Faist. 38 Newbury St., robertkleingallery.com
