Mandarin Oriental, Boston’s new wellness packages allow guests to go beyond the usual spa treatments and indulge in a true getaway.
The Royal Suite is part of a $15 million renovation at the property—and a prime place to stay as part of a wellness retreat this spring.
Facials and massages are bliss, of course. But after the skin-tingling treatments fade, it’s back to the grand arcs of our days and nights. Philipp Knuepfer, general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Boston, wants to extend the euphoria and wellness boost of spa treatments by blending them with a getaway. The idea: Why not make them three- to five-night retreats to achieve balance, quiet the mind and restore optimal health? “Following a year of considerable physical and mental challenges, these retreats will make for the ultimate 2021 reset and allow our guests to truly recalibrate and restore themselves,” he says.
Two wellness-retreat options have been rolled out by the team at Mandarin, which is home to the only Forbes Five-Star spa in Massachusetts. The first is Reset and Restore, recommended for guests feeling depleted, exhausted or looking to rebalance their bodies. Treatments include Inner Strength (to relieve emotional anxiety), Sound Bathing (to restore balance and reinstate energy levels) and aromatherapy. Activities include yoga and guided meditation.

The second program is Motivate and Activate, designed for guests who want to detoxify and get a jump on a weight-loss program. The Mandarin’s personal trainer will help guests with a full-body diagnostic assessment and offer programs like core training, Pilates and yoga. A nutritional class also provides insights on detoxifying, purifying and balancing the body. Treatments include a Himalayan salt stone massage designed to balance the central nervous system and nourish depleted cells. Both programs offer meals—morning, afternoon and evening—featuring organic whole proteins, energypacked carbs, antioxidant-rich wellness boosters and lots of fruits and vegetables from Back Bay’s own Revolution Health Kitchen.

Each retreat can be booked for one or two people, and the package includes luxe accommodations in one of the property’s recently renovated guest rooms or suites. 776 Boylston St., 617.535.8820, mandarinoriental.com/boston
