The US Open Tennis Championship in New York is right around the corner, and while you may not play like the pros, there’s still time for you to look like them.
Ralph Lauren is set to undertake its 17th year as the official outfitter of the world-class event, and you’re invited to be a part of the celebration as the sporty and elevated brand unveils its Polo Ralph Lauren US Open Collection.
Since 2005, Ralph Lauren has provided uniforms for more than 250 on-court officials and 400 ball crew members, creating the visual style language that has come to define the momentous tennis occasion. That history plays a part in the commemorative collection, which includes looks for men, women and children.
Bright colors, graphic lines and athletic cuts define this delightful capsule, while a pair of smart-looking sunglass styles boast the brand’s Pony player and the US Open logos in a shiny Havana colorway. The accessories mark Ralph Lauren’s inaugural year as the championship’s official sunglass sponsor.
As part of Ralph Lauren’s sustainability efforts, the ball crew Polo shirt is made from the yarn of recycled plastic bottles. The fashion brand and sporting goods giant Wilson are set to collect used plastic tennis ball cans during the tournament, and the plan is to use said plastic for future fabric production. This is the second year for such a program, and last year, more than 540 pounds of ball cans were collected.
The promotional campaign honors the deep connection between the brand and the championship, featuring five official US Open Ball crew members alongside Ralph Lauren models. The photos were shot at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
