Beacon and Berkeley Events was started with the mission to design and produce stunning luxury events in the New England market. Founder Amanda McCabe sat down with us to tell us a little about her company!
How did you get your name?
Two decades ago while on college visits, I walked by the plaque that sits outside Isabella Gardner’s house on Beacon St. I immediately became obsessed with her being a quirky spirit, a philanthropic pioneer, an artistic genius and of course a Red Sox fan. So Beacon and Berkeley was born and Isabella Gardner became our brand muse.
What is something that is unique to your brand?
As a core value of our business and mission, Beacon and Berkeley proudly partners with various animal, veteran and children’s charities. As a unique way to involve our clients in our charitable efforts, a percentage of each planning contract is donated to a partner organization. We are honored to support our local charitable partners and help strengthen our communities - and find that our clients truly appreciate the opportunity to give back, too.
How did you start?
I have been planning events of all kinds for more than a decade, and founded Beacon and Berkeley in Washington, DC. Since then, our flagship location has moved north to Boston and New England, and my team has launched an office in the Richmond-Charlottesville, Virginia area. We are excitedly spreading out along the East Coast!
Who are your clients?
Beacon and Berkeley attracts a wide variety of clients, but they all seem to have one thing in common – they love to party! We love helping our clients dream up anything from tented at-home weddings to large hotel fetes, intimate restaurant dinners, or black tie museum soirees! We take care of every logistical detail to assure a seamless, stunning, memorable event and planning experience from start to finish.
What did you learn in the last year?
With Covid-19 essentially crippling the events industry across the last year, we have been forced to perfect the art of the pivot - we now prepare Plans A, B, C and D. Our priority is to focus on what brings our clients joy, and how we can capitalize on that. An innate B&B quality - patience - has come in especially handy this last year as we’ve learned to make the best of every situation, evolve from every setback, and continue to allow our clients to celebrate safely and responsibly.
What’s your favorite part of the event?
While we love the design process and layers of preparation leading up to an event, it is surely the look on our clients’ faces as they experience the event of their dreams. That hug (remember hugs?) at the end of the night is what makes our world turn. But between us - we certainly don’t mind the exquisite food and beverage, gorgeous florals and luxe linens we get to play with for a living!
