Karen Akunowicz Announces the Opening of The Fox & The Knife

HER SHOT It was the (Champagne) pop heard round the food world when Myers+Chang’s James Beard Foundation Award-winning chef Karen Akunowicz announced her departure to open her own restaurant. The new restaurant, The Fox & the Knife, opens this winter in South Boston with a menu of Italian-inspired “modern grandma” dishes like grilled broccoli Caesar salad, orecchiette with sheep’s milk feta, and Sicilian tuna crudo. Akunowicz, a Top Chef alum who has also worked at Oleana and Via Matta and penned Myers+Chang At Home with owner Joanne Chang, is excited about opening the doors to her own boîte. “Opening my own restaurant is an opportunity to create an exceptional work environment for our staff and be a part of a growing neighborhood,” says Akunowicz. “I want to connect with people through food and help them feel a little bit better when they walk out the door than when they walked in.” Her steaming tagliatelle Bolognese is one surere way to do the trick. 28 West Broadway,
