A fashion collaboration is always exciting, especially when it involves two major French fashion houses and an innovative new design.
Launched in Paris in 1965, K-Way pioneered the waterproof jacket game and continues to step-up the athleisure style. Saint Laurent, likewise, has been a leader in the high-end fashion world since 1961. Now, the two brands collide for the first time on a nostalgic windbreaker that stands out from the typical, looking so cool, you’ll want to get caught in the rain.
Designed by Saint Laurent Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello, the “VHS Sunset” jacket blends both K-Way’s sporty style and Saint Laurent’s luxury haute couture designs into one cutting-edge look.
It’s hip yet sophisticated, covered in an all-over tropical palm tree print in hues of dark pink. The print is obscured in tracking lines with a vintage VHS date stamp running along the bottom. Vaccarello channeled the vibe of 1983 for this look.
The jacket comes as part of the Rive Droite collection, a label dedicated to luxurious lifestyle pieces from home goods to skimboards and more. Vaccarello carefully curated the entire collection, with his main purpose to make luxury fashion more accessible and wearable for everyone.
The jacket’s genderless design inckudes an adjustable drawstring hood and waist, making it comfortable to wear in a sporty setting whilst maintaining a high fashion look that works in any hip evening setting. The zipper maintains the integrity of K-Way’s classic jackets, balancing out the collaboration.
The “VHS Sunset” jacket launched today, and is currently available in both the Saint Laurent Rive Droite Paris and Los Angeles store locations. It retails for $675, and it can also be purchased via ysl.com.
