Fitness guru and owner of Higher Ground Fitness (highergroundfit.com) Darcy Krinsky shares advice on how to make 2022 your healthiest year yet.
Darcy Krinsky’s Higher Ground Fitness specializes in Lagree Fitness, a high-intensity, lowimpact workout.
1. TYake Boutique Studio Classes vs. Joining a Traditional Gym
Boutique studios offer unique, specialized and often new fitness disciplines with no-commitment structure, which means you can test out aerial Pilates on Wednesday and round out the week with Lagree Fitness at Higher Ground Fitness on Friday. Switching up your workouts helps keep you on your toes and sets you up for long-term success.
2. Accountability Through Community
This year, instead of committing to another round of on-demand workouts, grab a girlfriend and sign up for an in-studio January fitness challenge. Now if you’re a no-show, you’ll be left with an angry friend, little chance of completing the challenge and probably a late cancellation fee. My bet is you’re going to class.
3. Start Your Day Off With a Shake
When you fuel your body with vitamin-packed, nutritious foods at the start of the day, you will find making healthy decisions is a lot easier. Try drinking a shake every morning from Jan. 2 to Jan. 15. One of my favorites includes strawberries, blueberries and chocolate collagen peptides.
4. Set Realistic Goals
When setting your fitness and nutrition resolutions, make sure you invest in your success by laying out a plan. A great way to do this is following the S.M.A.R.T. Method. Ensure your goal is (S)pecific, can be (M)easured, is actually (A)ttainable as well as (R) elevant and, lastly, (T)imebound.
5. Shop the Perimeter First
Have you ever spent time thinking through how your local supermarket is set up? Hit the entire perimeter of the grocery store first. That way, once you leave the dairy section, there will be little room left for those sugary treats and microwavable meals.
