January 10, 2019 |Nontoxic beauty store Follain is here to help you ditch the dirty stuff.
Need a New Year’s resolution that is actually doable? There’s no better time than now to finally make the switch to clean beauty products. Luckily, one of the most wellregarded (and chicest) purveyors is based right in Boston: nontoxic beauty brand Follain. Aside from stocking cult favorites like Tata Harper and Vintner’s Daughter, Follain also now has its own line of products, many of which are collaborations with other New England-based brands. One of the best-sellers—and perfect for dry winter days—is their rose body butter, crafted in conjunction with Boston-based Organic Bath Co. and made with Moroccan rose essential oil and shea butter. “It’s a popular scent, and it’s a really, really nourishing ingredient,” says founder and CEO Tara Foley.
Follain, which started out as a single small shop in the South End, has since expanded to six stores around the country, with four more on track to open before the end of the year. Foley also plans to continue to expand the brand’s bespoke product line to provide a clean alternative for nearly every beauty quandary. “We’re filling holes we see in the market, and we’re starting with some of the most toxic products that you use every day,” she says. “We’re making healthier but luxurious alternatives.” 65 Charles St.; 53 Dartmouth St., follain.com
