Check Out a Baseball Legend's Runway Debut in 1968

Red Sox Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski, Elsie Petrocelli (wife of Red Sox player Rico Petrocelli) and Red Sox player Ken Harrelson offer a winter fashion preview during a charity fashion show in August 1968 at the Somerset Hotel.

For those who knew Carl Yastrzemski as an understated hero of the Fenway pasture, it must have been shocking to see the superstar parading the catwalk with teammate Ken Harrelson in matching fur coats at the old Somerset Hotel in the summer of 1968. Then again, the sartorial jaunt was for the Jimmy Fund, otherwise known as the Children’s Cancer Research Foundation of Boston. Even outside the friendly confines, real heroes never disappoint.
