My Obsession by Boston Ballet
Experience the power onstage as four ballets explore humanity’s obsessions and devotion to gods, lovers, music and each other. As the season opener, this series will keep you on the edge of your seat for every turn and plié. Watch as dancers transition from powerful displays of skill in George Balanchine’s Apollo and Allegro Brillante to the soft intimate choreography of Helen Pickett’s Tsukiyo. Attendees are also in for a thrill with Stephen Galloway’s DEVIL’S/eye, which is set to music by the Rolling Stones. 539 Washington St., 617.695.6955, bostonballet.org
Last year, Boston Fashion Week also had an augmented reality (AR) twist where AR galleries were activated in public spaces throughout Greater Boston. However, this fall, the galleries will be organized by fashion ideas and issues, not by designers.

Frank Bowling’s Americas
Dedicated entirely to the influential years the British Guiana-born artist spent in the United States, this exhibit takes you through Bowling’s decade spent living in the U.S. from 1966 to ’75. Energized by the lively art scene in New York from the mid-1960s to the mid-1970s, Bowling was able to create pieces that championed artistic freedom regardless of biographical background. Explore the former Massachusetts College of Art professor’s impressive command of color and see America through his eyes. 465 Huntington Ave., 617.267.9300, mfa.org
