William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park

The William J. Devine Golf Course boasts a captivating history. It's one of America's oldest public golf courses, where icons like Willie Campbell—the winner of America’s first professional match—have played. Designed in 1896, the course is located 20 minutes from downtown and spans across Franklin Park. If you’re looking to practice and perfect your knowledge of the sport where it all began, the William J. Devine Golf Course is the spot for you.

Granite Links Golf Club

100 Quarry Hills Dr. / Website

Just 20 minutes from downtown, the Granite Links Golf Club offers stunning views of the city skyline. Granite also offers high-end amenities, including a driving range and a patio bar, most of which are available to both public guests and members. The course was built on top of previously-mined quarries and features some granite outcroppings and water hazards to keep you on your feet throughout the game.

Brookline Golf Course

Built in 1933 and recently renovated, this course provides a variety of obstacles to give every sports enthusiast the fun they’re looking for. Interested in honing your skills? Brookline offers instructions at all player levels, as well as clinics and junior programs, so you can improve your technique with a little help from a professional.

Red Tail Golf Club

George Wright Golf Course

Designed by Donald Ross in 1929 and built in 1938 by one of his associates, this Hyde Park course located 30 minutes from downtown is another gem of the Boston area. If the impressive clubhouse’s classic architecture isn’t enough to inspire a visit, the par-70 hilly course with 5,131 yards from the red tees and 6,096 from the whites will surely pique your interest.

Membership is required to access the course, but it’s well-worth the fee. Designed by Gil Hanse, Boston Golf Club signals the architect’s admiration for the game’s origins in the British Isles, bringing you back to the original traditions behind the sport.
