When it comes to live music, some cities are just built different, and the mortgage experts at Money.co.uk crunched the numbers to find what cultural hub might be the best for those looking to buy a house in a musical mecca.

Ranking were determined by a few factors: how many music venues there are in each city, how many upcoming concerts were scheduled during the time of data collection, how many major music festivals the city hosts, and how many artists or bands were born in its streets.
After weighing the results, Money.co.uk published the findings, and the results are interesting, even if they’re not totally shocking.
London came out as the top destination for music lovers worldwide. Boasting 207 music venues, eight major music festivals and 5,088 upcoming concerts this season alone, London is most definitely calling you to let it all out on the dance floor. Of course, London has long been a major player on the world music scene, laying claim to the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Queen, Pink Floyd and David Bowie, as well as recent hit-makers Adele, Florence + the Machine and more.
Before any Big Apple enthusiast get upset, New York City came in at a close second. The U.S. culture capital proudly offers 188 venues, two major music festivals and 3,267 upcoming concerts. It actually had London beat for the amount of bands its produced, though. As the birthplace of hip-hop, disco, punk and more, some of its amazing 3,011 home-bred bands include Notorious B.I.G., the Ramones, Jay-Z, The Strokes and the Talking Heads.
Los Angeles rounds out the top three with a whopping 240 music venues, three major music festivals and 3,003 upcoming shows. A central headquarters for all things ‘80s rock, ‘90s gangster rap and modern pop, the City of Angels claims Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns N’ Roses, N.W.A. and loads more musical icons.
Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto, Paris, Atlanta, Austin and Berlin make up the rest of the top 10. If you’re shocked not to see Nashville on that list, we were, too. Country music’s undisputed capitol landed at No. 14 on the overall top 30. Glasgow, Scotland, lands at No. 19; Miami hits No. 24; and the Beatles’ hometown of Liverpool makes it at No. 28. A little music tourism, anyone?
Money.co.uk expanded its research to include the top cities by genre around the world. If you’re looking for rock, head to Liverpool. More into Pop? Las Vegas is the place. Metal head? Turns out Lisbon, Portugal, is where you wanna go.
