The city's first Balenciaga storefront turns luxury shopping into an experience ahead of its time with exposed construction materials and industrial components.
It’s now easier than ever to get your hands on pieces from one of fashion’s biggest names, as luxury staple Balenciaga (balenciaga.com/en-us) finally put down roots in Boston on March 24th. Located in Copley Place, the brand’s first standalone store in the city incorporates and exposes the pre-existing architecture as a part of Balenciaga’s Raw Architecture concept. As customers approach the interior-facing entrance, this design leaves a stark, futuristic impression with uncovered concrete and Balenciaga logo illuminated with white lights. Enter this dystopian atmosphere and experience this raw industrial aesthetic unfolding as concrete flooring contributes to the grayscale theme, aluminum frames the windows and cables dangle from the gridded ceiling above. While shopping, visitors can admire the fashion forward selections under white industrial lighting and atop tarnished metal tables while a large, window-facing digital screen displays Balenciaga content. Throughout the just over 1,000 square feet space, these and more construction materials replace traditional interior decoration elements culminating in a striking, distressed style that complements the displayed offerings of high end attire. This minimalist concept not only stands out among other retailers, but meets the brand’s sustainability goals by consuming fewer virgin materials. While looking for new seasonal styles, be sure to peruse Balenciaga’s spring/summer 2022 collection in store.
