SLT founder Amanda Freeman brings the Megaformer to Boston with a new studio.
Harvard Business School grads can go on to become megamoguls. Amanda Freeman, queen of the Megaformer, plans to be one, too. Freeman, a Boston-born entrepreneur, is taking what she learned in the classroom and applying it in the studio. Freeman loved the Megaformer classes she took at Los Angeles studios while traveling as a trend forecaster for The Intelligence Group, but she couldn’t find anything similar in New York, so she decided to open her own studio, SLT (for Strengthen Lengthen Tone), in 2011. After constant requests from clients to open a studio in Boston, Freeman spent six months designing her Newbury Street location and training local instructors, and opened this winter with 40 weekly classes for fitness enthusiasts. “Wellness in general has gone mainstream, and in particular, boutique fitness is having a major moment,” says Freeman. “People are wise to the value of studios that offer the best version of one focused workout.” Freeman’s advice for sticking to your fitness resolutions are simple: Coordinate with friends who will help hold you accountable, sign up for classes ahead of time so you can build them into your schedule and invest in workout clothing you actually like so getting dressed for SLT is half the fun.
Single classes from $32, 341 Newbury St., 3rd Floor, sltnyc.com
