Multimedia on-air personality Zagami discovered his career dreams at a young age, including looking fab.

Even as a teen growing up on the North Shore, Derek Zagami knew he was an entertainer. “I started making videos with my neighborhood friends at the age of 13. Then I decided at the age of 15 years old to mainstream it on YouTube with a show called The Derek Z Show.” Covering celebrity news and red carpet interviews around the country—Zagami has always been a hustler. Now, he’s a digital correspondent at NBC10 Boston at The Hub Today. While the “looking good” part of on-air work is essential, it comes naturally to Zagami. “I truly believe in taking care of myself physically, because that is the key to success in every part of your life. Fitness and living a healthier life has changed every part of my career and relationships to the way that I think and I sleep.” After recently losing a significant amount of weight, Zagami not only walks the walk but, well, runs. “My true passion is to change people’s lives through the content that I put out,” he says. “Some advice I would like to give to people is we all have the ability to be our most authentic selves. You just have to embrace the best things in life.” For Zagami, this means working out and eating better. “Trust me, I was a skeptic,” he says. “I loved the cookies and bagels. I found happiness with living the healthy life that I’ve dreamed of for years.”
7:15AM: Work up a sweat
“Working out has truly changed my life. I believe getting your body moving in the morning makes for a successful day. Everyone at Burnin’ By Ray and the people I work out with inspire me to be the best version of myself.” Burnin’ By Ray, Seaport, burninbyray.com
8:45AM: Treat yourself
“I’ve been doing the keto diet for the past year, and I have lost over 65 pounds. I love sweets, so I had to find replacements that were going to satisfy me. My breakfast treat is keto chocolate chip coffeecake.”
9AM: Hustle & bustle
“My schedule is always changing. I could be filming at the NBCU Boston Media Center breaking down trending topics of the day or out in the field covering an event. I also shoot, edit and host all of my own segments.”
1PM: Quench thirst
“Since I am always on the go, I make sure to stay hydrated. I drink lots and lots of water.”
8PM: Any way you slice it
“One of my favorite dinner options is Whole Foods’ cauliflower cheese pizza with broccoli and chicken.”
